- About Us
Sohini Karanth is a Bangalore-based Kathak dancer and choreographer who has been immersed in the art form for over 22 years. She was first introduced to Kathak by Guru Smt. Nivedita Bhattacharya in Lucknow and later refined her training under Gurus Smt. Nirupama Rajendra and Shri T.D. Rajendra at Bangalore's renowned Abhinava Dance Company. A Doordarshan-graded artist, Sohini is known for her remarkable swiftness and precision in chakkars, captivating audiences on prestigious stages across India and abroad.A versatile artist, she is also an architect by qualification and pursues painting, music, and yoga with equal passion.
As the founder of the Sāttvatī School of Dance, Sohini has nurtured a vibrant community of over 150 students worldwide. Her dedication to teaching and innovation in performance has earned her recognition, including the Nritya Vighnya Award. She is a recipient of the National Scholarship from CCRT - Ministry of Culture.

Samudyata Bhat
A Kathak practitioner with over eight years of training, Samudyata continues to learn under Sohini Karanth. As an Acharya at Sāttvatī, she mentors young dancers and regularly performs in the school’s productions, bringing thoughtfulness and discipline to both stage and classroom.
Sakshi Bodas
With over twelve years of experience in Kathak, Sakshi is a performer, teacher, and choreographer trained at Sāttvatī for the past five years. She is also experienced in Indian folk dances and Hindustani vocal music, embodying a holistic approach to movement and melody.
Priti
Priti began learning Kathak at the age of five in Mumbai and later reconnected deeply with the art during the Covid period. For the past five years, she has been learning, teaching, and performing with Sāttvatī, finding joy and fulfillment in her evolving dance journey.
Divya Bharathi
Divya is a committed Kathak dancer trained since 2015, also versed in Bharatanatyam. Known for her grace and expressive depth, she balances her artistic practice with a career in investment banking, bringing discipline and emotional clarity to her dance.
Aishwarya
With over five years of Kathak training at Sāttvatī, Aishwarya pursues the art with dedication and grace. She has performed in several school productions and continues to grow artistically under Sohini Karanth, balancing her dance journey with her profession as an MBBS doctor.
Shobha Sunil
Training in Kathak since 2017 under Sohini Karanth, Shobha is both a performer and teacher at Sāttvatī. A software engineer and trained Bharatanatyam dancer, she brings patience, sincerity, and deep passion for Kathak to her teaching.
